residuary estate (residue)

The property comprising a deceased personís estate after payment of his debts, funeral expenses, costs of administration of the estate, and all specific (and demonstrative) bequests and devises. If a will does not dispose of the whole of a testatorís property, the residue passes to those entitled under the rules applying on *intestacy.
