reputed ownership

Goods that at the beginning of the bankruptcy of a trader are in his possession with the consent of the true owner and in circumstances suggesting that the bankrupt is the owner are said to be in the bankrupt’s reputed ownership. Such goods are treated as his own goods and are therefore available for distribution to his creditors.
