remedy (redress, relief)Any of the methods available at law for the enforcement, protection, or recovery of rights or for obtaining redress for their infringement. A civil remedy may be granted by a court to a party to a civil action. It may include *damages, an *injunction, a decree of *specific performance, or a *declaration (see also *equitable remedies). In the High Court, the nature of the remedy claimed by a plaintiff must be endorsed upon the *writ by which the action is begun and repeated in the prayer of the *statement of claim. |
